Into the Nicest Abyss

My laser is still several weeks away from being delivered (I hadn't anticipated it taking this long to arrive), but I'm taking this time to try to prepare the space where my laser will live. Part of this includes running a couple new electrical circuits to handle the load of the laser and it's support machines.

Luckily, I recently moved into this brand new house. I've spent some time in a handful of attics, both professionally and for myself, and let me tell you, a fresh clean attic makes all the difference. Sure, I'd not really want to be in an attic at all if I didn't have a need to, and crawling around an attic in Southern California in the middle of a heat wave must be hazardous to your health, but this will still be a joy compared to the last time I was in an attic.

If you've never been in an unfinished attic before, it's about as bad as you're imagining. Especially in older homes. You're dealing with years of dust and detritus built up on old insulation, and enough cobwebs to make even the stoutest of hearts rethink whatever plans led to their time in the attic to begin with. And I've got what I'd consider to be a very reasonable amount of arachnophobia. And hopefully you won't take 120v to the melon and half fall through the ceiling. I've done that before to.

I'm actually starting to rethink this whole endeavor.
